How to get rid of bad breath?
Are you one of the many people with bad breath? You brush your teeth 3 times a day and the smell just does not seem to lighten up. You could be suffering from a dental condition or mouth disease called halitosis without even knowing that it is there. Or even many times people don’t know that they have bad breath, and they find this out by some other person telling them to brush more often. This is very embarrassing and something that you should talk to your dentist about. He or she can help develop a plan to of action.
Another known cause for smelly breath lays in the foods we eat, for example, garlic and onions will create bad breath. Many people think that by brushing their teeth the odor leaves their body, but it does not. This only masks the problem. Foods are taken in by our blood and then transfers to our lungs, this is where the bad breath comes from. The only thing you can do now is wait for the food to clear your body.
Furthermore, many dieters have what is known as diet breath. This happens simply because they lack certain nutrition’s in their diet. When a person does not brush their teeth on a regular basis the food that they eat can leave behind particles that will create bad breath. And over time this collection of food leftovers will start to rot between our teeth or around our gums, leaving an unbearable odor.
What’s more, one of the major causes of bad breath is by a decreased saliva flow in our mouths also known as dry mouth. Saliva is a very important part of odor control in our mouths because it rinses the left behind food particles from between our teeth. When you have dry mouth go see your dentist, he or she will prescribe the right treatment so that you can fix this problem. Also, sometimes it is as easy as just eating some sugarless candy to get your saliva back in to your mouth.
When people use tobacco products they have more than likely been told that their breath is not as great as they would hope it to be. Go see your doctor or dentist to help formulate a plan to stop the use of tobacco. Bad breath can also be a medical disorder, and should always be addressed by a doctor, if only to rule out any serious diseases or problems. But as with anything, sometimes the answer simply lies in taking better care of your mouth.
This could mean that you should visit your dentist more often or that you should start brushing and flossing a couple of more times a day. Nonetheless, there are times that it is beyond your control like when taking some medications. These medications will also play a role in bad breath problems. Your dentist will advise you on this matter if it is found to be the case.
But most importantly, and high ranking on the list of forgotten items, would be brushing your tongue. By doing this you will ensure an all-round clean smile and hopefully a fresh breath. And don’t forget to floss. People tend to just get by flossing by using mouthwash. And although many people think that mouthwash is an important factor, we have found that mouthwash is nothing more than a cosmetic tool. If you have been brushing and flossing right, you don’t need to use mouthwash unless your breath still smells. So in short, start brushing at least twice a day, and use good fluoride toothpaste.
